Here I am blogging

I am reluctantly starting this blog. Blogging has not really interested me because I cannot access any blogging sites at school. My students cannot access them either. I teach on the border of Arizona and Mexico. I did not grow up here but landed here kind of by accident about 15 years ago. Its a small city of about 15,000 people and I have a love hate relationship with it. In a small town you have to be ready to deal with the entire community interested in your business. You also have to deal with maybe not fitting in like the people that grew up here. If you can deal with that then you will love this town. You can actually leave your front door unlocked and not have to worry. Its a safe place to raise children and they can be involved in many activities. Teaching at the only public high school has been great. We have amazing kids and I rarely have any discipline issues. I think that the kids can feel my passion for science as I am teaching. Don't get me wrong, teaching is an exhausting profession and some days I feel like it sucks the life out of me but there are enough moments that recharge me throughout the year that keep me going strong.
